Smelt netters will have expanded access to the Milwaukee Port this spring after voicing concerns over an existing ordinance

Smelt fishers will be able to tend their nets until midnight this spring in a traditional Milwaukee harbor spot, according to a plan announced last week by Port Milwaukee officials.
For security reasons, the popular smelting area under the Hoan Bridge is typically closed to public access from 8 p.m. to 3 a.m.
